The 14 members Grand Jury of the mBillionth South Asia Award 2010 struggled 3 days in Colombo to find 24 best practices across 10 categories hailing from 8 South Asian countries. The Jury held during June 9 – 13, 2010, in Colombo hosted by ICTA Sri Lanka and complemented by one day South Asian Mobile Conference, 2010.
The mBillionth secretariat at Digital Empowerment Foundation (http://defindia.net/), New Delhi reached out to the entire South Asia region to solicit nominations across 10 categories: Business, Culture & Heritage, Education, Entertainment, Government, Health, Inclusion, Environment, News and Travel & Tourism.
More than 200 entries were received and after rigorous scrutiny 175 nominations were successfully accepted and presented to the 14 Jury members – eminent personalities from 4 South Asian Countries.
The Jury process involved intense discussions and varied viewpoints as the jury members came from various backgrounds- government organizations, media, corporate houses, social activists, which made the jury decision even more legitimate and unbiased. On the 1st day, the Jury went up to 1 AM, and finally after lot of arguments and deliberations, on the 2nd day 24 winners from 5 South Asian Countries across various categories were selected.
With this, the mBillionth Award South Asia 2010 has reached its final stage where the winners will be announced at the event with full-media coverage at the South Asia Mobile Congress, Exhibition & Award Gala, which is scheduled on July 23, 2010, Delhi to create a highly enriching and comprehensive exchange of knowledge & ideas and celebrate all nominees & innovations.
