Reuters Market Light is a pioneering service that provides crucial, local and customized information to Indian farmers via mobile phones. Information provided includes: Spot Crop Prices, crop advisory for selected crops, commodity news and any other information relevant to the farming community. Since its launch in 2007, over 200,000 farmers in 15,000 villages across 10 states in India have subscribed to RML. Its accurate and timely information has the potential to reduce crop wastage, which across India runs into billions of dollars each year.
