Both eduVARTA and Kisan Sanchar received funding grant for being winners of Vodafone Mobiles for Good Prize 2011. The motive was to ensure optimum utilization of the fund granted to the winners and also to understand the work pattern and processes conducted.

Digital Panchayat Programme Receives USD 768,930 Microsoft SupportDigital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) received a software support from Microsoft Corporation worth USD 768,930 for better impact and implementation of Digital Panchayat project is India. The support will facilitate DP programme to provide licensed software(s) to its panchayat centres. The Digital Panchayat programme is a joint initiative of NIXI (National Internet Exchange of India) and DEF to provide a digital identity and platform to the panchayats in rural India. The vision of the project is to empower the grassroots panchayats through digital inclusion and providing internet awareness for better workflow.

DEF’s Presence at ICTs, Climate Change and Development (ICCD) WorkshopDigital Empowerment Foundation participated at the ICTs, Climate Change and Development (ICCD) workshop held on 23-24 January, 2012. The workshop was hosted by the Association for Progressive Communications (APC) and the University of Manchester, funded by Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC). This international workshop was attended by 35 key individuals with strategic responsibilities for either ICTs or climate change in development organisations in the NGO, public and private sector.

PIR-eNGO – Inviting partners for PIR-eNGO workshopsWe invite collaboration from Indian State level (especially Southern and Western States) and International organisations having a network of atleast 30-50 grassroots level establishments for expansion of PIR-eNGO for grass root development programmes through ICT inclusion in their region. DEF & APC's View on the Second Universal Periodic Review of IndiaDigital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) and the Association for Progressive Communication have jointly submitted their recommendation points aligning with the points of government’s second Universal Periodic Review and the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) India Human Rights Council. DEF is majorly concerned with the human rights, internet rights and making the internet an effective tool to access right to information in India.
